Changes

SFTP (SSH FTP) service was configured to use the same port as the SSH service.

Cause

SFTP runs as a subsystem of SSH and usually uses the same port, however; the 7000 NAS appliance SFTP service uses a non-standard port number for connections to the appliance. This is to avoid conflicts with administrative SSH connections to port 22. By default, the SFTP port is 218 and must be specified on the SFTP client prior to connecting.

Solution

The directions below indicate the steps to change the SFTP port on the appliance.  We suggest the default value of 218, but any unused port may be specified.

Browser:
  1. Navigate in the BUI to Maintenance > Configuration.
  2. Select either the ssh or sftp service.
  3. Modify the port used to an unused port.
CLI:

:> configuration services sftp set listen_port=<unused port number>
     or

:> configuration services ssh set listen_port=<unused port number>

Sun ZFS Storage 7000 appliances have built-in online help, accessed by clicking on the Help button in the top right of the BUI masthead. The information in that help wiki is accessible by directing your browser to https://<hostname>:215/wiki or https://<ipaddress>:215/wiki
Once there navigate to: Services>SFTP>SFTP Port
or use the URL https://<hostname>:215/wiki/index.php/Configuration:Services:SFTP#SFTP_Port
