Symptoms

Red service request light is on.
Library status light on SL Console is yellow.
Result code 3235
RC3235
Warning feature license expiring

How to turn off service required LED.

Cause

Service expiration date is expiring.

Solution

Customer needs to contact local Service Representative to discuss expiration of Service Contract.  If contract is valid, an updated SILKs license will need to be generated with valid expiration date.

The Service Contract number and new contract expiration date is required to update the SILKs key.

Note:

  1.   The service date requirement will no longer be managed via license keys......
  2.   Therefore the E-Delivery model does not provide an option to upgrade the service date.
  3.   The new 3.0 Firmware, which is available via USR, contains code to disable the service date dependency.

In FRS-3.0 code the Service feature is controlled by the CLI command "hwActivation serviceFeature enable" .  When upgrading from an earlier code version and the SILKS service key is already expired, the key is ignored and the CLI command is able to properly control the feature.  However, if the key is still valid (not expired) the key will be brought forward into FRS-3.0 code and still display as shown below.  Entering the service feature with the CLI command has no effect on removing the expiration date.

SL3000> hwactivation print

Possible conditions and actions:

a). Code is upgraded and the SILKS Service Key is already expired.  Status module shows warning.
1). Enter "hwActivation serviceFeature enable" at the CLI
2). Reboot library
b). Code is upgraded and the SILKS Service Key is not yet expired or about to expire (example shown above).
1). Reboot the library after the KEY expires
2). Enter "hwActivation serviceFeature enable" at the CLI
3). Reboot the library.
