Applies to:Sun Fire V210 ServerSun Fire V240 Server Sun Fire V250 Server All Platforms SymptomsAfter executing 'boot' from the OBP (ok) prompt, Solaris[TM] Operating System (OS) starts to load, the message 'Error with console keyboard' is reported, then the Universal Serial Bus(USB) keyboard becomes in-operable.CauseThis problem has been seen with USB keyboards attached through third party USB keyboard, video, mouse(kvm) switches (see alert 57688 for details).SolutionSymptomsAfter executing 'boot' from the OBP (ok) prompt, Solaris[TM] Operating System(OS) starts to load, the message 'Error with console keyboard' is reported, then the Universal Serial Bus(USB) keyboard becomes in-operable. Resolution Solaris[TM] Operating System: boot messages report 'Error with console keyboard'. If the SUN machine is a V210, V240 or V250 refer to Sun Alert 57688 for special instructions. Alternately, this problem has been seen with USB keyboards attached through third party USB keyboard, video, mouse(kvm) switches. Installing consconfig patch ID 116484-01 should suppress this error message, but the keyboard may still be in-operable. Normal output of the usb keyboard using cfgadm. # cfgadm -l | grep usb-kbd If the output of the cfgadm command reports the keyboard as 'disconnected' or To reset the device. cfgadm -x usb_reset -y To configure/connect the device. cfgadm -c configure If the keyboard just won't work via the kvm switch, but works when directly If the SUN machine is a V210, V240 or V250 refer to Sun Alert 57688 for special instructions.
