Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1016168.1 : SL500 - CAP Door Sticking and Hard to Open Latch
PreviouslyPublishedAs 225419 Applies to:Sun StorageTek SL500 Modular Library System - Version Not Applicable and laterAll Platforms Checked for relevance on 23-May-2012. SymptomsCAP latch sticking Changes{CHANGE} CauseAdditional Information The CAP has reverse logic or reverse from anything (STK) normally has do. History Typically the CAP would show connected so that if it were disconnected, there would be some sort of warning or logic state that would indicate it is unplugged or not hooked up. SL500 CAP Because other expansion modules may or may not be present, it was decided to reverse the logic of the CAP switch so if the other modules (& CAPs) were not present, there would be no complaints about them not being present to the RLC card. With that said - with the CAP in the closed position - the switch is open - or just in its normally open state. When the CAP is open, the switch is closed. If Open or if it has been jumpered at the switch or the connector, they are telling the unit the CAP door is open. **** The unit will not initialize with the CAP door open. **** One CAP latch problem that has been seem - CAP Stick and Door hard to open. The latch for the CAP door is part of the front plate assembly. There have been a few latch parts that had some mold flash on them that made them stick and hard for the hand to push. You can open the door and operate the push latch by hand to determine if the latch is smooth in operation. If the door doesn't open or the latch is hard to push there is most likely a problem with the part keeping the hand from allowing the CAP to open. You get the latch with a CAP door unless the entire assembly is ordered. SolutionResolution Attachments This solution has no attachment |
