Symptoms

When booting or rebooting a Sun Fire[TM] T2000 the boot process hangs at "checking ufs volumes" but before "/dev/... logging" messages. Machine was fine until modem was attached to the serial port (ttya). Machine is running Solaris[TM]10 11/06.

Cause

T2000 is running Solaris[TM]10 11/06.

Solution

Resolution
The following should help address:
Problem only appears with those T2000's running Solaris[TM]10 11/06 (S10_u3).
Installing Patch ID :120011-14 or later will fix the problem.

Relief/Workaround
Remove modem or serial device from serial port prior to booting/rebootin then re-attach after machine has fully booted.
