Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1008404.1 : Reloading ssh keys crashes Sun StorageTek[TM] 5xxx NAS
PreviouslyPublishedAs 211488 Symptoms When regenerating ssh keys with "netserv enable ssh regen" or when reloading keys with "netserv enable ssh reload", the NAS crashes. The stack trace from dbglog.txt will look similar to the following: STACK TRACE: 0x141D0B8 ssh.ssh_free+19(FFD7000 7B31870 141D178 400) 0x141D0E8 ssh.ssh_key_free+81(7B31870 754CE2F 141D138 18B412) 0x141D978 ssh.ssh_load_host_keys+EE(2 8 D0A 252677) 0x141D9A8 ssh.ssh_service_update+154(1 1 141DBC4 1) 0x141D9D8 netserv_set_status+0x1FA(4 141DBB8 141DA50 24EA0F) 0x141DA08 command_sv+0xBE(395A98 4 141DBB8 141DA50) 0x141DCB8 oper_cmd_line+0xB6(141DDF8 1 141DF18 11FDA8) 0x141DF18 opercli_main_loop+0x125(0 0 0 0) 0x141DFC8 ssh.ssh_child+28A(FFD7000 FFD7150 0 FFD7000) 0x141DFF8 thread_launcher+0x34(0 141E010 2BED80 39B3B0) Resolution The temporary workaround may in fact be the resolution. A PDE escalation has been opened to evaluate the crash. Relief/Workaround Have the customer back up the following files that are in /dvol/etc - ssh1host.key, ssh1host.pub, ssh2host.key, ssh2host.pub. On a Unix or Linux system outside the NAS, create a directory and touch the following files. bash-3.00$ ls -l total 0 -rw-rw-r-- 1 dt44231 staff 0 Dec 14 12:25 ssh1host.key -rw-rw-r-- 1 dt44231 staff 0 Dec 14 12:25 ssh1host.pub -rw-rw-r-- 1 dt44231 staff 0 Dec 14 12:25 ssh2host.key -rw-rw-r-- 1 dt44231 staff 0 Dec 14 12:25 ssh2host.pub Ftp them to /dvol/etc on the NAS. v-se5210a > ls -l /dvol/etc/ssh* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Dec 14 12:26 ssh1host.key -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Dec 14 12:26 ssh1host.pub -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1222 Dec 14 10:46 ssh2auth.key -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 611 Dec 14 10:46 ssh2auth.key.BAK -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1222 Dec 06 11:23 ssh2auth.key.bak -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Dec 14 12:26 ssh2host.key -rw------- 1 root root 668 Dec 06 10:53 ssh2host.key.bak -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Dec 14 12:26 ssh2host.pub -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 588 Dec 06 11:26 ssh2host.pub.bak v-se5210a > v-se5210a > netserv enable ssh regen ssh is enabled. #the NAS should return this line v-se5210a > ls -l /dvol/etc/ssh* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 515 Dec 14 12:28 ssh1host.key -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 317 Dec 14 12:28 ssh1host.pub -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1222 Dec 14 10:46 ssh2auth.key -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 611 Dec 14 10:46 ssh2auth.key.BAK -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1222 Dec 06 11:23 ssh2auth.key.bak -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 668 Dec 14 12:28 ssh2host.key -rw------- 1 root root 668 Dec 06 10:53 ssh2host.key.bak -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 588 Dec 14 12:28 ssh2host.pub -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 588 Dec 06 11:26 ssh2host.pub.bak v-se5210a > netserv enable ssh reload ssh is enabled. #the NAS should return this line v-se5210a > Product Sun StorageTek NAS OS v4.21 Sun StorageTek 5320 NAS Gateway/Cluster System Sun StorageTek 5320 NAS Appliance Sun StorageTek 5320 Sun StorageTek 5310 NAS Gateway/Cluster System Sun StorageTek 5310 NAS Gateway System Sun StorageTek 5210 NAS Appliance Sun StorageTek 5310 NAS Appliance Sun StorageTek 5220 NAS Appliance ssh, regen, reload, 5210, 5220, 5320, 5310, netserv Previously Published As 91544 Change History Date: 2007-12-18 User Name: 71396 Action: Approved Comment: Performed final review of article.
