PreviouslyPublishedAs 209137 Symptoms Read and Write Operations to a Sun StorEdge[TM] 6xxx/2540 Error with ASC/ASCQ 0x8b/0x2, similar to the following on Solaris[TM]: date time host scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING:/pci@9,600000/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0/ssd@w200700a0b819e184,0 (ssd7): Resolution The ASC/ASCQ code pair 0x8b/0x2 is a vendor unique code defined as: UNIT ATTENTION, QUIESCE IN PROGRESS (0x06/0x8b/0x02) ILLEGAL REQUEST, LUN NOT OWNED This error is thrown if a read or write command to a 6xxx/2540 Volume is issued While the error itself is harmless, it may indicate: A) There is a problem with the physical link(Host Bus Adapter, Fibre Channel Cables and Emitters, or Array RAID Controller). This is typically associated with messages related to Host Bus Adapter software reacting to an adverse condition such as this. If the only messages seen are the above ASC/ASCQ code pair, then the situation could be: B) The host software and 6xxx/2540 array may not be configured correctly for the user's solution. A review of the host's multipathing software configuration, along with the Array's Host Type settings for the Initiators defined for this host should be conducted to identify a possible flaw. C) MPXIO may not be properly enabled.
