Part Number Description

371-2389 - AC Power Section D, Three Phase Star(ACSTPH_D), Fujitsu P/N CA06624-D313
371-2386 - AC Power Section B, Three Phase Star(ACSTPH_B): Fujitsu P/N CA06624-D113

Symptoms

SPARC Enterprise M8000/M9000 servers with three-phase Star (aka Wye or Y) AC power may contain ACSTPH units which do not match "SPARC Enterprise M8000/M9000 Servers Site Planning Guide" (PN E23589-02) and "SPARC Enterprise M8000/M9000 Servers Installation Guide" (PN E27052) connection diagrams.

M8000/M9000 server product documentation is available via the below URL;

  http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19415-01/index.html

Servers may be identified with either a red or yellow WARNING label on ACSTPH units effected.

Impact

Hardware damage will result if AC three-phase is improperly connected.

Cause

A circuit protector used within the ACSTPH_B and ACSTPH_D became obsolete.  The selected new part required reversed orientation of the three-phase power connection terminals.  Systems began shipping as of August 13, 2012 via Deviation# D0001376 with this reversed wiring.

Solution

Workaround

No workaround is available - see Resolution section below.

Resolution

Three-phase AC power cords must be connected as per the ACSTPH label.  The label may not match the diagrams contained within the "SPARC Enterprise M8000/M9000 Servers Site Planning Guide" (PN E23589-02) and "SPARC Enterprise M8000/M9000 Servers Installation Guide" PN E27052.

Current M8000/M9000 server product documentation is available via the below URL;

  http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19415-01/index.html

Oracle is working with the supplier to update this documentation, however it is not currently known when this activity will be completed.

The original ACSTPH_D and ACSTPH_B contained three-phase power connection terminals in this orientation: L1, L2, L3, N.

The new ACSTPH_D and ACSTPH_B contain power connection terminals in this orientation: N, L3, L2, L1.

Power cords MUST be connected in the proper order as shown on the ACSTPH unit label which always reflects correct orientation.

Identification of Affected Parts (how to)

Servers with affected ACSTPH_B or ACSTPH_D units may be identified with either a red (interim notification) or yellow (final version) WARNING label. The red label indicates;

   WARNING:
   AC wiring configuration/sequence may not match what is indicated in the
   "SPARC Enterprise M8000/M9000
   Servers Site Planning Guide" PN E23589-02 and "SPARC Enterprise
   M8000/M9000 Servers Installation Guide" PN E27052.

- Reference the attached red warning label photo.

The yellow label indicates;

   WARNING
   Ensure power wires match terminal labeling.
   L1, L2, L3, N *OR* N, L3, L2 ,L1 are possible terminal sequences

- Reference the attached yellow warning label figure. No photo available.
