__________
300-2105 - 1200 Watt DC Input Power Supply, Type D204, RoHS:Y
Symptoms
Power Supply (PSU) failure could be accompanied by thermal damage to power connector and/or PSU.
Impact
Some Power Supplies may be susceptible to thermal events leading to power connector and/or PSU damage.
Changes
Contributing Factors
A small number of D204 PSUs (P/N 300-2105) with specific serial numbers are affected by this issue. A total of 120 units are in the suspect list and are affected by this issue. A total of 2 field failures related to this issue have been reported to-date.
Cause
Root Cause
The root cause was determined to be related to a mechanical crack on the PSU mother board capacitors due to crash fit to bottom cover as a result of capacitor thickness greater than 2mm. PSU vendor has implemented changes to include only low-profile capacitors with a height of 2.00 mm or less in future builds of the PSU.
Affected inventory within Ops has been purged and reworked per Stop-Ship/Purge P001-20733.A2. Suspect units within Services RSLs have been purged and reworked per GSAP 5190.B.
Solution
Target Completion Date: August 31, 2011
Workaround
No workaround available - see Resolution section below.
Resolution
Proactively replace affected PSUs in Customer List with 300-2105-02 (or higher).
An Oracle approved Customer Letter is available and can be viewed at the below URL, or via the attachment;
http://sdpsweb.central/FIN_FCO/FCO/A0314-1/SPE/CustomerLetter.odt
Identification of Affected Parts (how to):
Affected units are specific Serial Numbers with date codes of 0840, 0851 and 0907.
Hardware Remediation and Material Availability Details:
At the time this FCO was published, EMEA was not materially readiness due to ongoing purge/rework activities. Therefore, FEs in this Region should verify parts availability prior to setting customer expectations.
No FCO seedstock was purchased for this remediation. The field is to use existing Services inventory to remediate. The field should check with local Logistics Management for any large requests.
