BugID: 6179058 - Unable to use FC port 4 and 5 on 3511.
PatchId: 113724-01: SE3511: StorEdge 3511 array firmware upgrade.
Manual: 816-7326-16: Sun StorEdge 3000 Family FRU Installation Guide.
Issue Description:
For StorEdge 3511 FC Array with SATA, host FC ports 4 & 5 on the
controller module are not available for host connection in single
controller configuration. Connected host(s) would not be able to see
mapped logical drives or LUNs.
There is a bug (6179058) in the current SES firmware in which the paths
to host FC ports 4 & 5 are not provided when the JBOD IOM is installed
in a single controller configuration. This issue does not exist in
dual controller configuration, when the JBOD IOM is not used.
For StorEdge 3511 FC Array with SATA, do no use host FC ports 4 & 5
unless the steps in the "Corrective" section are followed.
Implementation:

| | CONTROLLED PROACTIVE (per Sun Geo Plan)

Corrective Action:
The following recommendation is provided as a guideline for authorized
Sun Services Field Representatives who may encounter the above
mentioned issue.
To use host FC ports 4 & 5, execute 1 of 3 options below (shown in
order of preference). Note that step #2 and 3 requires scheduled outage.
1. Upgrade to the new SES firmware in the upcoming patch 113724-01 for 3511
SATA.
2. Download the upcoming SSCLI 1.62 version from the Sun Solve and execute
the following steps:
A) sccli> set inter-controller-link upper channel 4 disconnected
WARNING: This is a potentially dangerous operation.
Are you sure? y
B) sccli> set inter-controller-link upper channel 5 disconnected
WARNING: This is a potentially dangerous operation.
Are you sure? y
C) sccli> reset controller
WARNING: This is a potentially dangerous operation.
The controller will go offline for several minutes.
Data loss may occur if the controller is currently in use.
Are you sure? y
3. Convert single to a dual controller configuration.
NOTE: The reason dual controller doesn't have the problem because with
dual controllers the paths to port 4 and 5 are provided. Single
controller (shipped with expansion board to cover up the 2nd
controller slot) do not have paths 4 and 5 connected.
Please follow the manual 816-7326-16 "Sun StorEdge 3000 Family FRU
Installation Guide" to convert to dual controller.
Comments:
None.
