Issue Description:
New firmware release 3.27R for the Sun StorEdge 3510 FC Array addresses
several issues for this storage product.
1. StorADE can not effectively analyze the product health without the hooks
that this firmware release provides. This software enhancement is a
mandatory requirement to support StorADE monitoring for SE3510 Arrays.
2. CLI users may encounter configuration management issues.
3. Customers and field service personnel will not have the enhanced ability
to debug issues.
To determine the current controller firmware for an SE3510 array, type the
following command at the "sccli>" prompt:
sccli> show inquiry
Controller firmware 3.27R and SES firmware 1040 are supplied in patch 113723-07.
All customer SE3510 units should be upgraded to these firmware levels. All
units shipped after 22-Mar-2004 will contain the above firmware levels.
RAID firmware version 3.27R resolves the following issues:
4860383 out of band cli interface hangs during diag channel inquiry after
1 to 4 hours (Refer to FIN#I1067)
4906151 lack of sccli oob functionality follows raid controllers
4916011 Parity check never completes on random LD's in certain configurations.
(Refer to Sun Alert 57494)
4932155 P2S2 I/O failure (giving up) due to command timeout on data
fail-over test
4939014 Controller hang when Controller failed through sccli
4867584 missing LUNs on reboot (1024 LUNs, 512 per channel)
4955208 Primary controller fault lead to host IO and LUN failure
5012640 Disk side fibre channel CRC link errors may cause the controller
to fail
SES Firmware 1040 addresses the following issues:
4908349 FRU physical location within 3510 is not available from the SCCLI.
4880182 FCP response packet sometimes fills in non-zero values in
reserved fields
Full StorADE functionality with the SE3510 Array will not be available
until an enhancement is made to the StorADE product. A future patch for
StorADE is expected. In the meantime, to make the SE3510 ready for this
new functionality, the array firmware must be upgraded to version 3.27R.

Corrective Action:
The following recommendation is provided as a guideline for authorized
Sun Services Field Representatives who may encounter the above
mentioned issue.
Upgrade Sun StorEdge 3510 FC Arrays to controller firmware version 3.27R
with patch 113723-07. All arrays shown on the following Customer List
(internal use only) should receive this upgrade.
http://sdpsweb.central/FIN_FCO/FIN/FINI1078-1_dir/Customer_List.sxc
The new firmware requires version 1.5 of the "sccli" utility for enhanced
"sccli" functionality. Version 1.5 is part of the SUNWsccli package which
is available on CD or from the Sun Download Center. For information about
the v1.5 software features, documentation, and fixed bugs, refer to Sun
StorEdge 3510 Fibre Channel Release Notes (816-7301-20) and to the Sun
StorEdge 3000 Family CLI 1.5 Manual (817-4951-10).
Use the following Customer Letter as needed to communicate with customers
regarding this new firmware release.
