The previous version of this FIN indicated that 512MB DIMMs were not
supported on Sun Fire V1280 / Netra 1280 systems.  This FIN was issued
because X-Option Memory which was not qualified for use on the Sun Fire
V1280/Netra 1280 platforms at that time, but was being ordered and
installed in these systems.  As of October 28, 2003, 512MB DIMMs have
been qualified and approved for use in all Sun Fire V1280 / Netra 1280
systems, and this FIN is being updated to reflect this fact.

The memory configured in the system can be identified using the
"inventory" command from the "lom>" prompt.  For example:

qualification as well.

Corrective Action: 

The following recommendation is provided as a guideline for authorized
Sun Services Field Representatives who may encounter the above
mentioned problem.

Corrective actions are no longer needed as the 512MB DIMMs are now 
qualified for use.  Please refer to the following manuals to qualify
512MB DIMMs on the Sun Fire V1280 / Netra 1280 systems.

Implementation Footnote: 

i)   In case of MANDATORY FINs, Sun Services will attempt to contact   
     all affected customers to recommend implementation of the FIN. 
   
ii)  For CONTROLLED PROACTIVE FINs, Sun Services mission critical    
     support teams will recommend implementation of the FIN  (to their  
     respective accounts), at the convenience of the customer. 

iii) For REACTIVE FINs, Sun Services will implement the FIN as the   
     need arises.
