Issue Description:
Cloning or copying an existing Sun StorEdge 99X0 Array configuration
from one Subsystem to another using a configuration diskette may lead
to a complete outage of the second Subsystem. When this happens, a
Define Configuration and Install operation may be required, including
blocking and re-formatting of all installed disk parity groups. In
addition, SVP to DKC communication may fail, requiring that an initial
"bring up" operation be performed.

This issue can occur with any Sun StorEdge 99x0 (SE9900) array when an
incorrect configuration diskette is used to configure a second
Subsystem and any of the following is true:

. The serial numbers of the 2 Subsystems are not identical (normally true).

. The physical configuration of the Subsystems is mismatched.

. The microcode levels are not identical.

When this issue occurs, these symptoms may be noticed:

. There may be a Service Processor (SVP) to Disk Controller (DKC)
    communication failure.

. There may be a communication problem between the SVP and the CHA's
and DKA(F)'s due to changed internal IP addresses.

. ALARM events associated with the CHA or DKC MicroProcessors or
    Shared Memory may appear.

This problem occurs because the incorrect procedures are being used to
try to propagate or clone a configuration between two different SE9900
Subsystems.

The recommended fix is to ONLY use the SE9900 Offline SVP Configuration
Utility to propagate a fixed or sample configuration between two
Subsystems. See the detailed procedure provided below.
Implementation:
---
          | | MANDATORY (Fully Proactive)
           ---

           ---
          | | CONTROLLED PROACTIVE (per Sun Geo Plan)
           ---

           ---
          | X | REACTIVE (As Required)
           ---
Corrective Action:
The following recommendation is provided as a guideline for authorized
Sun Services Field Representatives who may encounter the above
mentioned problem.

It is recommended to ONLY use the SE9900 SVP Offline Configuration
Utility to propagate a fixed or sample configuration to a new or
alternate SE9900 unit.

The SE9900 Offline SVP Configuration Utility tool is available via
the SE9900 Microcode CD.

   e.g; D:\TOOLS\CONFIG\OFF_SVP

NOTE 1:	You must ONLY use the version of the SVP Configuration Tool that
is applicable to the Microcode version in use on the SE9900
subsystem on which you want to build a configuration.

Example: A SE9900 subsystem has Microcode version 01-18-09-00/00
installed; you must therefore only use the Offline SVP
Configuration Utility from the 01-18-09-00/00 Microcode CD.

NOTE 2: You must NEVER install the SVP configuration utility tool on the
SVP PC. (The SVP should only ever be used for SVP related applications
        and operations.)

To install the Configuration Utility tool (on a standard PC) from the
OFF_SVP directory on the applicable version of the Microcode CD, please
adhere to the following procedure:

. Run "setup.exe" (double click on the setup.exe windows icon).

Once the install is finished from the standard Windows Menu select:

   . Start->Programs->RAID400 Offline SVP

From this sub-menu, two utilities are available which are "DeskTop Define
Install" and "Help"
Status: RO
X-Status: $$$$
X-UID: 0000000002

Selecting "Help" will provide the user some additional information on
the correct usage of the SVP Offline Configuration tool.

NOTE 3: A valid configuration diskette (from the SE9900 subsystem that you
wish to build) will be required to be inserted in the PC's floppy
drive, prior to starting the SVP Offline tool.

Implementation Footnote:
i) In case of MANDATORY FINs, Sun Services will attempt to contact
all affected customers to recommend implementation of the FIN.

ii) For CONTROLLED PROACTIVE FINs, Sun Services mission critical
support teams will recommend implementation of the FIN (to their
respective accounts), at the convenience of the customer.

iii) For REACTIVE FINs, Sun Services will implement the FIN as the
     need arises.
