Issue Description:
All two drive, Enterprise Tape Library(ETL) units should have the power
and data cables for the empty drive locations installed by the vendor
during manufacturing. The units listed above do NOT have the cables
installed or include the cables in the tape libraries. Without these
cables additional drives cannot be added to the unit. Many of the above
S/N range of these units have been shipped to customers.
If you have a customer with one of these units, ATL (the vendor) will
be contacting the customer to arrange the installation of the cables.
Units in the distribution centers that have NOT been shipped to
customers will have a cable kit added to the libraries. The cables will
need to be installed during the installation of the library unit or
saved for use when additional drives are installed in the library.
Corrective Action:
If a customer has one of these units or will receive one for
installation, contact your local ATL service provider to arrange for
installation of the cables. There will be NO CHARGE to Sun.
The vendor has agreed to install the missing cables at the customer's
site at NO CHARGE to Sun or the customer. Units still in Sun's
inventory will have cables added to the packaging but not installed in
the unit. There are no facilities available at the stocking locations
to open the packaging, install, test, and repackage the units.
Comments:
Parts are provided by the vendor, ATL, and are not available through
SunService Logistics.
