Instructions for the Reader
A Troubleshooting Guide is provided to assist
in debugging a specific issue. When possible, diagnostic tools are included in the document
to assist in troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting Details
Please validate that each troubleshooting step below is true for your environment. Each step will provide instructions via a link to a document, for validating the step and taking corrective action as necessary. The steps are ordered in the most appropriate sequence to isolate the issue and identify the proper resolution. Please do not skip a step.
1. Inspect the array PCU LEDs visually to see if any fault exists.
- If the array is remote or you still feel there is a problem with the PCU, then proceed to Step 2.
- Otherwise, the following table explains the LED status and corrective actions (indicated by *) for fault conditions:
AC LED
PS LED
Description
Off
Off
• Power is off • No AC Input * Action: Check the power source
Amber
Off
• Power is off • Power switch turned off • AC power is available * Action: Check if the PCU switch set to ON position.
Green
Off
Array is shutdown: • PCU disabled • AC power is available * Action: Go to Step 2.
Green
Green
Normal operating state: • PCU receiving AC power • Power switch is turned on • AC power is available * Action: No Action required. If you would like to investigate further, go to Step 2.
Amber
Amber
• Power switch is turned off • Array will power down after PCU is disabled * Action: Check power source and power switch position
Green
Amber
Indicates one or more of the following: • Over temperature condition; PCU is disabled • DC power not available; PCU disabled • Both fans have faults; PCU disabled • Battery is being tested * Action: Proceed to step 2
Green
Blinking Green
• Battery is charging * Action: Refer <Document: 1002468.1> Verify Battery, for battery diagnostics

Blinking Amber
Indicates one or more of the following: • PCU is disabled • single fan fault • Battery low; PCU remains enabled • Battery failure; PCU enabled * Action: Proceed to step 2
2. Validate that you can telnet and log into your array.
- If you have problems to log into the array, please reference <Document: 1131324.1> Troubleshooting Sun StorEdge[TM] T3, T3+ and 6120 Access Problems.
- If you log into the array successfully, go to Step 3.
3. Check the status of the PCU.
t3:/:<7> fru stat pcu
Example:
t3:/:<7>fru stat pcu POWER STATUS STATE SOURCE OUTPUT BATTERY TEMP FAN1 FAN2 ------ ------- --------- ------ ------ ------- ------ ------ ------ u1pcu1 ready enabled line normal normal normal normal normal u1pcu2 ready enabled line normal normal normal normal normal u2pcu1 ready enabled line normal normal normal normal normal u2pcu2 ready enabled line normal failed normal normal normal
- If the status/state is ready-enabled and battery status is normal PCU is optimal. No further action is required.
- If status/state is ready-disabled, check power cables, switch and AC output.
- If status is ready-enabled and the battery is failed, then there may be a problem with the battery. Reference <Document: 1147963.1> Troubleshooting Sun StorEdge[TM] T3, T3+ and 6120 Battery Failures.
- If status is fault-enabled, output=fault, go to Step 4.
4. Contact Oracle for support.
Please collect the array data from a Solaris host:
# /opt/SUNWexplo/explorer -w !default,t3extended
and open a service call with Oracle support.
