TIME ESTIMATE: 30 Mins

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty Cable Management Arm

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.

Customer should shut the operating system down gracefully (using "init 0"), and after the system has shut down Switch from the system console to the -> prompt by typing the #. (Hash Period) key sequence. At the -> prompt, type the stop /SYS command.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Removal:

1. Disconnect all cables and power cords from server.
2. Extend server to maintenance position.
3. Press metal lever that is located on the inner side of the rail to disconnect cable management arm (CMA) from rail assembly.
The CMA is still attached to the cabinet, but the server chassis is now
disconnected from the CMA.

4. Remove larger extension from end of right sliding rail.

5. Remove smaller extension from the clip located at end of mounting bracket.

Installation:

Note - The CMA includes velcro straps to secure cables inside CMA. Do not install velcro straps until you install CMA, connect cables, and place cabling inside CMA as described in the following procedures.

Caution - Support CMA during this installation. Do not allow assembly to
hang by its own weight until it is secured by all 3 attachment points.
1. Remove the tape from the CMA rail extension (on the left of the CMA) and
remove the CMA rail extension.
2. Attach CMA rail extension to rear left slide rail.
At rear of rack, plug CMA rail extension into the end of the left sliding rail assembly. The tab at front of rail extension clicks into place.

The right sides of two CMA arms have hinged extensions. On
manufacturer's instruction sheet, smaller extension is called the CMA
Connector for Inner Member. This extension attaches to the right mounting
bracket. The larger extension is called the CMA Connector for Outer Member, and
attaches to right sliding rail.
3. Insert smaller extension into clip located at end of mounting bracket. Slide smaller extension into the square hole on the middle-in-width of clip that is located at end of mounting bracket.

4. Insert larger extension into end of right sliding rail.

5. Insert hinged plastic connector at left side of CMA fully into CMA rail extension. Plastic tab on CMA rail extension locks hinged plastic connector in place.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Power on server & restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.

PARTS NOTE:
None
