Description
This document explains how to redirect the console back to the System Controller on the Sun Fire[TM] T1000/T2000.

Steps to Follow
The default routing of the Sun Fire[TM] T1000/T2000 console is to the System Controller (SC).

Access to the SC is provided via either the Serial or Network management ports. The console may be manually directed elsewhere, this document explains how to redirect the console back to the SC. There are two ways to redirect the console back to the System Controller. One method is to use the bootmode command from the SC environment. The other method uses eeprom commands and is implemented from the (up and running) Solaris[TM] Operating System.

Method 1: Redirecting from the System Controller (SC) environment.

From the SC> or System Controller, use the bootmode command to change the input and output device.
Then poweroff and poweron the system by issuing SC commands.

sc> bootmode bootscript="input-device to virtual-console output-device to virtual-console"
sc> poweroff
Are you sure you want to power off the system [y/n]? y
sc>
SC Alert: Host system has shut down.
sc> poweron
sc>
SC Alert: Host System has Reset
sc> console -f
Warning: User < > currently has write permission to this console and forcibly removing them will terminate any current write actions and all work will be lost. Would you like to continue? [y/n]y
Enter #. to return to ALOM.

At this point POST (Power On Self Test) diagnostics should be observed to be running on the console.

Method 2: Redirecting from the OS (Operating System) environment.
Login to the system as a user and su to root.
Reset the input-device:

# eeprom input-device=virtual-console

Reset the output-device:

# eeprom output-device=virtual-console

Then reboot the system.

#reboot

At this point POST (Power On Self Test) diagnostics should be observed to be running on the console.
