Goal

How to Change Password on L-Series Library Administrator.

Solution

Steps to Follow
Use the following steps to change a known password on Sun/StorageTek[TM] L-series Library Administrator:
These instructions are used only when the old password is known and there is a request to change it to a new password.

The change is effective immediately, an IPL of the library is NOT needed.

Other notes:
The L-Series Admin is always capable of monitoring the library but will never ask for password, unless a user wants to change the configuration or perform diagnostics to the library. When the password is set through the CLI interface, a simple validation test is to put the library in "demo" mode then click 'submit'. A password dialog box will be displayed for entering the password.

=================================================

1. Connect to the CLI (Command Line Interface) port via a PC

Refer to "Installing the L-Series" guide for details on connecting to CLI

2. At the CLI prompt, type: password change

3. Follow prompts to enter old/existing password and new password

To 'Reset' the password if password is not known, refer to  How To Reset L-Series Library Admin Password
