PreviouslyPublishedAs 220113
Applies to:Sun StorageTek SL500 Modular Library System - Version: Not Applicable and later [Release: N/A and later]All Platforms Checked for relevance on 4-Feb-2011. GoalThis article addresses if the reserved slots count against the total storage capacity.Source: SL500 Modular Library System Installation Manual. Found under heading of Physical Configurations in Chapter 1, Planning the Installation. SolutionYes, the reserved slots count as part of the total storage capacity. For example, if the library is licensed for 100 slots and 2 of the slots are reserved, there would be 98 slots available for data cartridges. However, the SCSI element mapping starts at the first NON-RESERVED slot, so if the library has 2 reserved slots, the first SCSI element will be in the third row of column 1.
