Goal

How to reset a drive to "Native" mode in L700 prior to replacing.
Firmware of LTO must be 27Q1 or higher.
Drive requires replacing & L700 has dWWN enabled.

Solution

Steps to Follow
When replacing a drive in an Lxxx Library which has the dWWN enabled, care must be taken to ensure that the drive is reset to "native" mode prior to changing it.
Ensure that the correct PPRRCC is entered for the drive being replaced, otherwise the system may require reconfiguring.
1. Disconnect the Fibre cable from the drive.
2. Connect your laptop to the CLI port.
3. Enter DRIVE PPRRCC REVERT.

where PP is wall panel (always 00)
where RR is drive position in the drive tower. (00 to 09)
where CC is the drive tower No. (00 or 01)

4. When complete, the message appears back on CLI that it has been completed successfully.
5. The drive can now be replaced as per the L700 Service manual.
