Description
Setting the correct timezone on a System Controller eases tasks of system administrators and support personnel. System controllers supports many timezones for almost all parts of the world. This document explains how to list all of them.

Steps to Follow
Available timezones:

There is an option to the showdate command which lists all the available timezones. This option is '-t'. For example:

f6800b-ssc0:SC> showdate -t
ACT GMT+09:30 Central Standard Time (Northern Territory)
AET GMT+10:00 Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales)
AGT GMT-03:00 Argentine Time
...
...
...
PST GMT-08:00 Pacific Standard Time
SST GMT+11:00 Solomon Is. Time
UTC GMT+00:00 Coordinated Universal Time
VST GMT+07:00 Indochina Time
WET GMT+00:00 Western European Time
f6800b-ssc0:SC>

The above list is not the complete list.
It does not include location-specific timezones which are showed only when option '-v' is specified in addition to '-t' option. For example:

f6800b-ssc0:SC> showdate -t -v
ACT GMT+09:30 Central Standard Time (Northern Territory)
AET GMT+10:00 Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales)
AGT GMT-03:00 Argentine Time
...
...
...
UTC GMT+00:00 Coordinated Universal Time
VST GMT+07:00 Indochina Time
WET GMT+00:00 Western European Time
Africa/Abidjan GMT+00:00 Greenwich Mean Time
Africa/Accra GMT+00:00 Greenwich Mean Time
Africa/Addis_Ababa GMT+03:00 Eastern African Time
...
...
...
Atlantic/Faeroe GMT+00:00 Western European Time
Atlantic/Jan_Mayen GMT+01:00 Eastern Greenland Time
Atlantic/Reykjavik GMT+00:00 Greenwich Mean Time
...
...
...
Pacific/Tarawa GMT+12:00 Gilbert Is. Time
Pacific/Tongatapu GMT+13:00 Tonga Time
Pacific/Truk GMT+10:00 Truk Time
Pacific/Wake GMT+12:00 Wake Time
Pacific/Wallis GMT+12:00 Wallis & Futuna Time
f6800b-ssc0:SC>

Try to avoid use of three letter abbreviations (such as 'EST') for the timezone.
Use the appropriate location-specific timezone instead, as it makes it simple to determine the actual timezone.
(For example, there are a number of timezones abbreviated as 'EST' around the world)

To set location-specific timezone on the system controller you need to specify it as an argument to setdate -t command:

f6800b-ssc0:SC> setdate -t Asia/Yekaterinburg
Fri Aug 26 12:10:09 YEKST 2005
f6800b-ssc0:SC> setdate -v -t Asia/Yekaterinburg
Fri Aug 26 12:10:53 YEKST 2005
Asia/Yekaterinburg GMT+05:00 Yekaterinburg Time
f6800b-ssc0:SC> showdate -v
Fri Aug 26 12:11:04 YEKST 2005
Asia/Yekaterinburg GMT+05:00 Yekaterinburg Time
