Description

Steps to Follow
The robotic emulation for the Sun StorEdge L25 Tape Library and Sun StorEdge L100 Tape Library is configurable via the front panel of the library. For Sun[TM] libraries, the default vendor and product strings should be "M4 DATA" and "MagFile" respectively. However, if purchased by a 3rd party, any one of the 3 emulation types could be configured:

   "M4 DATA"  "MagFile"
"ATL"      "1500"
"ATL"      "M2500"

The vendor and product strings can be seen in the device logs if SAM-FS has already tried to initialize the library:

   2004/10/12 18:00:02*0000 Initialized. rb
2004/10/12 18:00:02*1002 Device is M4 DATA , MagFile
2004/10/12 18:00:02*1003 Serial JGE25A0131, rev 3.073.07

If the 'M4 DATA' entry is missing from the inquiry.conf, then the following error may be seen:

   2004/10/12 18:00:02*0000 Initialized. rb
2004/10/12 18:00:02*1002 Device is M4 DATA , MagFile
2004/10/12 18:00:02*1011 Error: Unknown device:  Update /etc/opt/SUNWsamfs/inquiry.conf (see inquiry.conf(4)
2004/10/12 18:00:02*1009 Changing state to OFF

The "1500" and "M2500" strings are already present in the inquiry.conf. And, starting in 4.2, the "M4 DATA" emulation type is already included as well. However, previous versions of SAM-FS will require you to add this line manually.

   "M4 DATA",      "MagFile",      "atl1500"       # Sun L25 tape library

As an example, the 4.2 inquiry.conf has the following:

   "ATL",          "1500",         "atl1500"       # ATL M1500 tape library
"ATL",          "M2500",        "atl1500"       # ATL M2500 tape library
"M4 DATA",      "MagFile",      "atl1500"       # Sun L25 tape library

Once this file has been edited, run 'samd config' to reread this file and recognize the change.
