This document describes a procedure which can be used to bypass and reset the ALOM password of Sun Fire B1600 systems with one and two System Controllers (SCs) Steps to Follow The procedure to bypass the ALOM password is as follows: Step 1.Setup a serial connection with the active System Controller. Step 2. Remove and then re-insert one of the power supplies. You are going to see a message like this: (The first three lines are showing the moment when the password failed, the rest show when the power was removed and inserted). --------------------------------------------------------------------- username: admin Dec 17 14:21:06: CRITICAL: PS1: AC input fault. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 3. Within five minutes of re-inserting the power supply, in the serial connection to the SSC containing the active System Controller, log in as user admin.
