Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1010511.1 : Sun[TM] StorageTek 3000 Array: Resetting Factory Defaults
PreviouslyPublishedAs 214437 Description You can use the procedure described in this article to clear the NVRAM configuration memory and restore the factory defaults. This procedure is for single controller arrays only. Steps to Follow Requirements To perform this procedure, you access the array via sccli. To do this you must have at least one LUN mapped and discovered on the host. Or you can invoke sccli <network_addr> for out of band access. Note however that after resetting nvram to factory defaults you will no longer be able to access the array with sccli as factory defaults have no network settings or lun mappings. Note Regarding Redundant Environments ------------------------------------- The sccli command only restores the primary controller. In a redundant environment this can create a dangerous situation in which the primary controller no longer mirrors the secondary controller. Note also that in redundant controller configurations, reset commands affect all LUNs on both controllers. Restoring Defaults ------------------ To clear the NVRAM configuration memory and restore the factory defaults, follow these steps: 1. Halt all applications that are accessing the array. (Reset commands cause the array to stop responding to I/O requests from the host for a period of time. This might result in data loss unless all I/O activity is suspended.) 2. Unmount any file systems that are mounted from the array. 3. From the management host, enter this command sequence: # sccli <return> sccli> reset nvram WARNING: The configuration of the RAID controller will be erased. Factory default parameters will take effect at next controller reset. Logical devices may not be accessible until mappings are reconfigured. Are you sure? Y 4. Reset the controller with this command: sccli> reset controller 5. Reconfigure the controller to restore any non-default configuration options. For a complete listing of default factory settings please refer to the Sun StorEdge 3000 Family RAID Firmware User's Guide.
