Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1010265.1 : Sun Enterprise[TM] 3X00-6X00servers: PCI I/O card address mapping
PreviouslyPublishedAs 214091 Description This document will describe how to read a device path, and determine the location of a PCI card mounted on a PCI I/O board in a Sun Enterprise[TM] 3X00-6X00 server. Steps to Follow The device path for a PCI I/O board, installed in a Sun Enterprise 3X00-6X00 server, will look similar to the following: /pci@x,4000/scsi@2 To compute the slot location of the PCI board in the server, divide x by 2. /pci@x,4000/SUNW,isptwo@3 is the device path (or physical name) for the onboard /pci@x,4000/SUNW,hme@1,1 is the device path (or physical name) for the onboard Example device path: /pci@6,4000/scsi@2 From this example, it can be determined that the PCI I/O board is in slot 3 These are some common driver names that may appear in a device path. fas - driver for fast/wide SCSI controllers hme - driver for Fast Ethernet isp - driver for differential SCSI controllers and the SunSwift card glm - driver for UltraSCSI controllers scsi - driver for Small Computer Serial Interface (SCSI) devices sf - driver for soc+ or socal Fiber Channel Arbitrated Loop (FCAL) soc - driver for SPARC(R) Storage Array (SSA) controllers socal - driver for serial optical controllers for FCAL (soc+) NOTE: This information is correct for Open Boot Prom(OBP) version 3.2.30 Product Sun Enterprise 3000 Server Sun Enterprise 3500 Server Sun Enterprise 4000 Server Sun Enterprise 4500 Server Sun Enterprise 5000 Server Sun Enterprise 5500 Server Sun Enterprise 6000 Server Sun Enterprise 6500 Server pci, pci+, type 3 Previously Published As 17576 Change History Date: 2006-01-19 User Name: 95826 Action: Update Canceled Comment: *** Restored Published Content *** SSH AUDIT Version: 0 Date: 2006-01-19 User Name: 95826 Action: Update Started Comment: SSH AUDIT Version: 0 Date: 2004-11-30 User Name: 18392 Action: Approved Comment: Added STM, some formatting for readability.
