PreviouslyPublishedAs 211597 Description The purpose of this document is to provide basic steps for profile modification for the 6920 array, via the Browser User Interface(BUI) or sscs Command Line Interface(CLI). Content will be limited to a basic usage using the CLI or BUI interface for creating profiles, and provide help with some usage failure scenarios
Steps to Follow Validating Modification of Profiles on a StorEdge[TM] 6920 A. Validate that the profile is not a factory profile Verify the type of profile. If it is listed as a Type of Factory, it cannot be modified from the system. Validate that the profile is not In Use Verify the status of the profile. Reference document < Solution: 211582 > Validating Profile State and Status on a StorEdge 6920 (TM) If the Status shows In Use, then there is at least one Storage Pool Reference document <Document: 1009823.1> Validating StorEdge(TM) 6920 Pool Deletion If the Profile Status is Not In Use, continue Step C. C. Profile Modification Note: You cannot modify the default factory profiles. If a user-created profile's state is In Use, you can change only the profile name and description. A profile is in the In Use state when it is associated with a storage pool. BUI
SSCS You can modify any field of the profile with a single command. The option The difference is simply to substitute the create command option with the Usage: sscs modify -r <RAID> -v <virt_strategy> -t <array_type> -s <segment> -p <stripe> -N <new_Name> -d <description> -D <hotspare> -k <disk_type> -h <read_ahead> -n <num_drives> profile <profile_name> Example: sscs modify -r 5 -N raid5profile profile raid1profile This command will change the RAID level of the profile to RAID 1, and the name of the profile from raid1profile to raid5profile.
