Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1006414.1 : Sun StorEdge[TM] 351x/33x0 Arrays: Mute Button held during reset of array will cause false battery failure messages
PreviouslyPublishedAs 208997 Description The purpose of this article is to address the false battery failure messages that are generated when the mute button on the right front of the RAID or JBOD expansion array is stuck in the depressed position during a reset of the array. If the mute button on the right front of the RAID or JBOD expansion array is stuck in the depressed position during a reset of the array, false battery failure messages will be generated continuously and abnormal drive led patterns will occur. The led patterns will be all amber, then all green, then all off, then random green on. This cycle repeats until the mute button is unstuck. Additionally, you will see the following pop-up error messages from the firmware menu: [0125] WARNING: Controller BBU Failure Detected ! [01A5] NOTICE: Controller BBU Fully Charged ! [01A5] NOTICE: Controller BBU Back On-Line ! [0125] WARNING: Controller BBU Not Fully Charged ! Determine that false battery failure messages are generated continuously in the array by reviewing the event log and comparing to messages in description above. 2. Determine that abnormal drive led patterns are occuring as described above. 3. If the above steps are true, then remove the plastic cover from the right front of the array and validate that the mute button is not damaged or stuck in a depressed position. 4. Once the button is unstuck, the array behavior should return to normal.
