During an SL8500 installation a site reported 1/3 of the rail terminators were not assembled correctly and caused the associated Sbots to fail initialization.

Description:

During an SL8500 installation a site reported 1/3 of the rail terminators were not assembled correctly and caused the associated Sbots to fail initialization.

Found one of the two blade contacts was not inserted into the mating socket. This is not readily apparent but can be found upon close inspection. This affects only the second generation of rail terminators denoted by the use of the HBQ card PN: 313823202. It is also possible to encounter intermittent rail communication errors if the terminators are not assembled correctly.

A second unrelated problem is a label covering the lock tab recess on the white connector housing.

Resolution:

Manufacturing in Puerto Rico is in the process of implementing corrective action. Recommend all SL8500 sites check the terminators during the next maintenance window and all new installs check the terminators before installation and remove the label interfering with the lock tab recess area.
