Assumptions
Replacement Steps 1. Verify that the server module is ready for removal. A. Make sure the blue Ready-to-Remove indicator is ON. B. If not, use a stylus to push the power button or perform an ELOM (Embedded Lights Out Manager ) stop/SYS command. 2. Remove the failed server module. A. Press together and hold the green ejector buttons. B. Open the ejector levers by rotating them out from the server module. C. Pull the server module out from the chassis by the ejector levers until you are able to grasp the module with both hands to pull it out of the chassis. D. Set the server module on an antistatic surface. Caution: Before handling internal components of the server module, attach an electrostatic-discharge (ESD) wrist strap to the grounding post that is built into the rear of the chassis. The system's printed circuit boards and hard disk drives contain components that are extremely sensitive to static electricity. 3. Remove the server module's top cover. A. Press down on the cover release button and, using the indent for leverage, slide the main cover toward the rear of the server module approximately 0.5 inches (12mm). B. Grasp the cover by it's rear edge and lift it straight up from the module. 4. Move internal FRUs (field replaceable unit) and CRUs (Customer replaceable units) to the replacement server module. Note: You need to refer to the replacement procedures associated with internal components separately before attempting to move internal components from one server module to another. 5. Once internal FRUs and CRUs have been transferred to the new server module reinstall the top cover. A. Align the top cover with the guide notches and place flat on the server module. B. Slide the top cover
forward until the cover release button clicks in place with the
locking mechanism. B. Slide the server module into the open chassis slot. C. Push the module in until the ejector levers make contact with the chassis then use the levers to push the module the rest of the way into the slot. D. Once the server
module is fully inserted push the ejector levels in so they lock
into place. 1. While the system runs through it's BIOS/POST self check the Power/OK green LED will be blinking slowly while the diagnostics run. B. Once the self check is finished the Power/OK Led will go into Standby blinking (on for 100 m, off for 2900 ms) mode indicating the module is in standby power mode. C. The server module will remain in standby until the server module is put into main power mode via the GUI or the CLI (command-line interface) start /SYS commands. At this time the Power/OK LED will go solid and the server module will boot to the operating system. D. Once booted to the operating system run SunVTS and as long as no errors are found there shouldn't be any fault LEDs lit.
