Description
This document will explain how to map a VLUN serial number
to a specific c#t#d# device on a Sun StorEdge[TM] 6900.

Steps to Follow
On the Sun StorEdge[TM] 6900 SP, you must run the following command to get the VLUN
Serial Number, which is a unique identifier for the Sun StorEdge[TM] T3 lun-slices
that are presented to the host via the virtualization engine.
(SP - service processor)
v4u-6910a: root# showvemap -n v1 -l

In this example we will use the last VLUN entry from the showvemap
output. The VLUN serial number is 6257357430303570.
On systems with MPxIO enabled, it is simple to identify the VLUN as
the target value in the c#t#d# is the Virtualization Engine's UID
concatenated with the VLUN's serial number:
(c#tUID+SerialNumberd#) c11t29000060220042256257357430303570d0
On systems with MPxIO disabled, it will be more difficult to
determine. All the VLUNs will appear as c#tWWNd#. The WWN value
is the WWN of the Virtualization Engine. Use the method below to
determine the correct device.
# /usr/sbin/format -e -> select one of the devices with the
appropriate WWN, in this example we will use
c11t2b00006022004225d9 -> then select scsi -> then select inquiry
scsi> inquiry

The following number is taken from the byte data at the top of the
inquiry output. The 3rd row starting from the 5th byte and ending
at the 12th byte:
62 57 35 74 30 30 35 70
This is the VLUN Serial number for the c#t#d# selected. As we can
see from the showvemap, the device c11t2b00006022004225d9 maps to
the VLUN serial number of 6257357430303570. If the serial number
doesn't match, then select another device with the above method
until a match is found.
