PreviouslyPublishedAs 249946 Bug Id <SUNBUG: 6643794> Product Sun StorageTek 6140 Array Date of Resolved Release 16-Jan-2009 Sun Storagetek 6140 arrays may cause servers to lose access to data due to SCSI timeouts: 1. Impact Heavy read I/O on a Sun StorageTek 6140 may cause an initiator to abort all running I/O to the array, causing a host to time out on pending requests. This can result in a loss of access to array devices and the stored data. 2. Contributing Factors This issue can occur on the following platforms:
If the described issue occurs, the array may end up in a deadlock situation during heavy read I/O. This may cause the attached server to loose access to data. A Solaris server attached to the array will show the following message in the "/var/adm/messages" file: Aug 10 17:04:02 jesbuild1 SCSI transport failed: reason 'timeout': giving up4. Workaround There is no workaround for this issue. Please see the Resolution section below. 5. Resolution This issue is addressed on the following platforms:
