A limited number of Sun Blade X6250 Server Modules were shipped with an incorrect Pre-install Image loaded

1. Impact

A limited number of Sun Blade X6250 Server Modules manufactured in May 2008 (Americas only) were shipped with the incorrect Install Image loaded (S10u3), which may cause the module to hang or go into a continuous loop on booting.

2. Contributing Factors

This issue can occur on the following platforms:

• Sun Blade X6250 (A93) Server Module with Solaris 10u3

Sun Blade X6250 Server Modules with the serial numbers between 0809QAW0E5 through 0821QAW1FB (inclusive) manufactured in May 2008 are affected.

The serial number can be obtained from the "EZ" label on the front handle of the Blade.

3. Symptoms

Attempting to boot the X6250 Server Module on one of these pre-installed images will result in either a server hang or a reboot loop.

4. Workaround

There is no workaround for this issue. Please see the Resolution section below.

5. Resolution

To correct this issue, reload the affected Sun Blade X6250 Server Module with Solaris 10u4 or later.

Manufacturing has corrected the Install Image as of 06/03/08.

There was a process mistake made at the
manufacturing location (Americas only).  This mistake caused the wrong
pre-install image S10u3 to be loaded on 1700 Harpertown/Wolfdale X6250
Server Modules during the Month of May 2008.  Serial numbers affected
are between 0809QAW0E5 - 0821QAW1FB, inclusive.
