Solution Type Sun Alert Sure Solution 1000651.1 : Sun StorageTek 6130/6140/6540 and Sun StorageTek Flexline 240/280/380 Arrays May Experience Loss of Network Access From Management Host

Once the array network connection stops working, it is no longer possible for the Management Host to monitor or manage the array. Access to data is not affected even if the Management Host is also a Data Host. Contributing Factors This issue can occur on the following platforms:
with repeated gathering of supportData in Common Array Manager (CAM) or supportdata in SANtricity. Symptoms If the described issue occurs, from CAM's Browser User Interface Storage System Summary page, the Health of the array will say "Lost Communication" and it will not be possible to manage or monitor the array. In SANtriicty, you will be unable to connect. Attempts to ping either array controller will be unsuccessful. Attempts to use the Serial Service Interface appear to be unaffected. Workaround For immediate relief from this issue, power cycle the array. If running any monitoring scripts in addition to the services offered by CAM or SANtricity that specifically call out the collection of the array supportData (see below), stop using them until a final resolution can be provided: CAM - <fms_home>/bin/supportData -d <arrayname> -p <directory> -o <file_name> Solaris - fms_home = /opt/SUNWsefms Linux - fms_home = /opt/sun/cam/private/fms Windows - fms_home = C:\Program Files\Sun_Microsystems\StorageTek_Mgmt\Component\fms SANtricity - <SMcli_home>\SMcli -n <arrayname> -c "save storageArray supportData file=\"supportdata.zip\";" Windows - SMcli_home = C:\Program Files\StorageManager\client Solaris/Linux - SMcli_home = /opt/SM9/client A binary fix is available through normal support channels. Resolution This issue is addressed in the following releases:
The firmware versions listed above are provided as part of the Sun StorageTek Common Array Manager 6.0 release bundle. Modification History Date: 18-OCT-2007
Previously Published As 103059 Internal Comments This issue can be verified by running "inetstatShow" from the debug port. In the output you should see a "LISTEN" state on TCP Proto for port 2463 in order for CAM or SANtricity to manage the array. If this port is not listening, you have encountered the issue.
For CAM users, you will not be able to load the 6.19.25.14 firmware using the BUI, you will have to use "/opt/SUNWstksm/bin/csmservice" with the "-s" option. For SANtricity users, there is no need to reload the NVSRAM file, only the 6.19.25.24 firmware. Until the next version of CAM/SANtricity is released with this firmware, open a task to PTS to obtain it.
