Description

Description

SCSI Enclosure Services (SES) Devices on a Sun Storage  3510 array may experience unexpected behavior such as random LED activity, invalid events in the event log, and possible disk failures. Access from the Sun Storage 3510 array to the host may or may not be impacted when this behavior is observed.

Likelihood of Occurrence

This issue can occur on the following platform:

SPARC Platform

  • Sun Storage 3510 FC array at an SES Firmware lower than 1080.

Possible Symptoms

Symptoms

Should the described issue occur, the Sun Storage 3510 array may log critical events about battery, voltage, temperature and/or path failure. At the same time, the controller and drive LEDs may be inconsistent, such as all green, all amber, all OFF, or some combination.

Workaround or Resolution

Workaround

To recover from the described issue, power cycle the SE3510 array. This should resolve the availability issues, and return LEDs to their normal state.

Patches

Patches
