Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1297805.1 : SL24/48 - WWN Set Incorrectly in Manufacturing for SL24 and SL48 Libraries
Possible WWN conflicts on the customer's host. In this Document
Oracle Confidential (PARTNER). Do not distribute to customers
Applies to:Sun StorageTek SL48 Tape Library - Version: Not ApplicableSun StorageTek SL24 Tape Autoloader - Version: Not Applicable and later [Release: N/A and later] Information in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsIf 2 SL24/48 libraries or their drives end up having the same WWN on a FC Switch or a host then one of the devices will most likely not be seen or configured on the system.CauseDuring an internal audit it was found that there were some SL24/48 libraries whose WWN's were incorrectly assigned to the SL24 and SL48 libraries.During production, a single Base WWN is assigned to each library. The library builds names off of that base name to be used for each drive. Each drive requires 3 additional WWNs and the library requires at least one WWN. To insure the WWNs remain unique, the assignment of the Base WWN to each library must reserve (or skip) a quantity of sequential WWN in order to allow the library to build addition numbers to the drives. SolutionA "Hotfix" code has been given to Oracle by HP to give to any customers that run into this issue. A request for the "Hotfix" code should be sent through the Tape Hardware Support group with an assigned SR.Ask for the following: SL24 - Firmware ED00 SL48 - Firmware GD30 Note: This is non-released code and is held in Special Builds firmware file. There is no work around for this issue. The special code must be acquired to resolve this issue. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
