SymptomsIf the internal ethernet switch located behind the smoke detector should fail, diagnosis of the problem can be delayed due to the confusing symptoms.Some of the symptoms are as follows:- Library does not mount any tapes to drives, but may appear to stay connected to host. You or the customer can log into your Remote SLC session using your laptop or networked customer PC. (Engineers would log into library port1A/2A/2B or SDP). In the Remote SLConsole session (customer or PC), the drive folder is completely missing, I.e. there are no drives available.... (No IP access to HBT card) Elevators, CAP’s and Pass Through Ports all offline, in red. (No IP access) You are not able to log into the Local Operator Panel, on the front of the library. Error message similar to "Server not available" when you try to log in. (No IP access) The library does not attempt to audit the drives after a library reboot. No lights on 3com IP switch positioned top right of rear of library. Red ICON denoting a device failure associated with the CAP, Elevators, and SSD (Service Safety Door) CauseThe fault is likely to be the 3COM switch.
