SymptomsThere is a timing issue with the LTO tape drive installed in a SL500/SL3000/SL8500 tape library when the drive is IPLed.ChangesThis issue was found while reseting the IP address on the HP LTO-5 tape drive. When the IP Reset button on the back of the sled is pressed, the HP LTO-5 drive does an IPL.CauseThe IPL takes less than 10 seconds, during this time the SL500 does not know the drive has been reset and does not reconnect the FC or SAS interface when the drive comes back online.SolutionTo reconnect the interface, the drive sled needs to be removed for at least 10 seconds.Resetting the IP address on the IBM LTO-4 & LTO-5 and HP LTO-4 tape drives does not have the same effect; the drive is not IPLed during an IP Reset (only the Belisarius card (IBM) and Dione card (HP) are IPLed). If the drives are IPLed via telnet or VOP, then they have the same issue. The final fix will be in future release of code. SL500 - Fixed after 14.09 code release. SL3000 - Fixed in 3.0 code SL8500 - Fixed in 7.0 code SCN # 22496 Attachments This solution has no attachment |
