SymptomsThe following error messages may be seen on the System Controller (SC) or lom console during SCPOST (System Controller Power On Self Test) when an SC is first powered on or it's been rebooted. The SC might also appear to be stuck in a reboot loop (never coming up to the scapp or lom prompt).NOTE: SCPOST is only seen by connecting directly to the serial port or via a loghost if one is configured.Example #1: After connecting to the SC Serial port, the following appear in console output: Example #2:SYSTEM CONTROLLER(SC) POST 46 2006/09/26 07:52 After connecting to the SC Serial port, the following appear in console output: SBBC Device0 Test Above is not an exhaustive list of error examples possible. CauseThe root cause of this issue is a dying (or dead) battery which is located on the System Controller (SC).NOTE: The battery is located on an IDPROM card which is on the SC itself. SolutionNeither the IDPROM card, nor the battery is replaceable. The System Controller (SC) must be replaced.
A Field Engineer will be dispatched to perform the replacement of this component (it is not a customer serviceable component). Internal Only Information Dispatch the replacement of the SC or IB_SSC to the field. Make sure to utilize the Canned Action Plan in ATR relating to System Controller Replacement so that the Field Engineer is provided with the instructions necessary to complete the service action.
