Symptoms

Failover wizard reports 3 targets, but only 2 initiators

Cause

Failover wizard reports 3 targets, but only 2 initiators

Solution

1. A rescan sometimes clears the devices (even though the clients are zoned and OS can see them, the SAN clients are not defined to VTL, so VTL should not pick them up).

2. If rescan does not help, a reboot also sometimes clears the devices.

3. If reboot doesn't help, deactivate client host zoning, so VTL server cannot discover them, and rescan devices in VTL console

4. If zoning changes are not possible, ipstor.conf file can be modified to remove the WWN of the discovered devices (FalconStor engineering should be engaged to perform this modification).
