SSD does not move when starting up SL8500 Error-reports show there is a "init device timeout" for the SSD SL8500 running FRS4.14. Service Safety Door does not work Changes{CHANGE}CausePrerequisites for installing SSD and 8 Handbots is verified OK:HBN card is higher part number than 313827510. 4*Handbots, part number 419642401. HBS assemblies has x-stamped in the upper left hand corner. Rail power supplies are in 5,6,11,12,17,18,23,24. Endstop barcode inserts in plastic with cut out on the side. Rail terminators are "new style". If we take away cables for the SSD motor and switches, SL8500 starts normal. SolutionResolution Take the following steps to trouble shoot this problem: Most problems with the SL8500, when doing a new install or adding a feature, are due to a cabling problems. Most times its an installer error. Sometimes its a bad cable. Check the cable connectors that go to the switches. Are they swapped? Check this by pushing the Service Safety Door half way left or right. If the SSD centers itself, the switches are okay. If the Service Safety Door does not center, suspect the switch cabling may be swapped. There may be another issue such as the motor is bound up, which can be caused by a bad installation of the motor. The SSD itself may be bound up due to a bad adjustment at the bottom of the door. Next trace the switch cables from the top of inner wall. The cables should be going under the elevator assembly to the HBN card to connector J505. This cable may have been forgotten during installation. Use a meter to check for bad cables. Finally, There may be possible bad parts - motor, switches, HBN card and HBZ module. If down to swapping parts, start with the HBZ. It is the brains behind the SSD and is the easiest to replace.
