Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1019495.1 : NAS does not allow to create files or directories with '$' symbol
PreviouslyPublishedAs 240098 Symptoms Unable to create/view directories or file with '$' symbol Resolution Add additional '$' symbol to the file or directory name while creating or viewing directory/files. NAS does not allow to create files or directories with '$' name however if you add an additional '$' symbol it will allow to create the file or directory with ' $' symbol. For Eg: ST5210a > ls /Vol1 syslog testcap ST5210a > mkdir /Vol1/gir$ ST5210a > ls /Vol1 gir syslog testcap ** Even though I tried to create gir$ it omitted the '$' symbol & folder gir was created ** ST5210a > mkdir /Vol1/umi$$ ST5210a > ls /Vol1 gir syslog testcap umi$ ** Here I used '$$' symbol to create umi$ folder** Note: NAS Montana treats '$' as <esc> character This is very important because some of the Windows directories that are shared from NAS have '$' symbol to hide the succeeding directories & if you try to back up those directories with '$' symbol NAS will not recognize it & will complain that the directory doesnot exist. & backup will fail. At this point if you want to backup directories or files with '$' symbol use '$$' for the file or directory name in the path & it will backup the file or folder without any problem. Product Required Statement nas , montana ,5210 , 5310 ,5310 , 5320 , $ , file , directory , name , backup , tina , time navigator , create Change History "MIGRATION CLEANUP" Article needs a product statement. If you could please add this statement as soon as time allows so that I may publish it would be greatly appreciated. I am moving this article back to Technical Review where you should be able to pick it up. Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
