Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1018232.1 : SL8500 - CAP locks up, Eject process aborted, Veritas Error 251 and 293
PreviouslyPublishedAs 229620
Applies to:Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library SystemAll Platforms Checked for relevance on 4-Feb-2011. SymptomsCAP locks upCAP appears to have failed Error code 251 Media access port in unavailable Error code 293 Eject process has been aborted Eject fails Changes{CHANGE}CauseThere are three different reasons why this error might occur:
If another process is trying to eject to the same MAP, this error is the expected result. NetBackup does not support multiple simultaneous eject requests to a single MAP.
If a prior eject attempt was interrupted by a system crash or if the vmchange process was killed by an administrator, there might be leftover lock files in the volmgr/misc directory. These lock files are meant to be temporary files used to help prevent multiple eject processes from trying to use the same MAP simultaneously. Resolve this problem by first verifying that there are no active vmchange or vlteject processes, and then removing any "EJECT*.txt" files in the volmgr/misc directory.
Make certain you are at the latest VERITAS NetBackup (tm) patch revision. Earlier NetBackup revisions have included defects that could create this particular error.
