Symptoms

Using:

   telnet> send break

on the Sun Fire[TM] platform does not always work.

Cause

There are a few reasons this may not work:

Cause 1:   We may not be telneting directly to the SC.

Cause 2:
Re-sizing a dtterm window sometimes breaks this "send break" functionality.

Cause 3:   When accessing the SC through a Terminal Server or different terminal
software the break sequence may be different.

Solution

Solution 1:

When you telnet to another system first then   from there to the SC (2 telnet sessions).
The send break command stops at the first machine. ]
To get around this you will have to perform the following steps from the telnet prompt:

           telnet> send esc

           telnet> send break

NOTE: If you have more than 2 telnet sessions you will need to use send esc for each additional session that is open for this to work.

Solution 2:

   Try one of the following:
  • Open a new dtterm window and do not re-size the window

  • Try a different emulator such as xterm. This is located under /usr/openwin/bin

Solution 3:

In case you' re using different terminal software you may want to try some of the
   break sequences below:
