Symptoms

It is not possible to create or delete pools or volumes, on the Sun[TM] StorEdge
6320 system, using the configuration services console. Attempts to perform one
of the above operations, returns the generic error message:

"An error occurred. Please contact your system administrator".

Or, if one of the above operations produces no result nor error message, check
the /var/adm/messages file on the Service Proceesor(SP), for errors like the
following:

"Jun 29 09:38:58 sp0 admin: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] vmcfg configure <-i
92.168.0.40> <-p sun1> <-s > <-t t4> <-u root> : exit code = 7"

Resolution

The steps following will correct the problem.

The operation below is non-destructive

1. In Storade click on manage then service then configure devices.
2. Select sp0-array00 and click unconfigure.
This step takes a few minutes to complete
3. Click on inventory maintenance, then generate a new inventory.
4. Click on Save Inventory
5. Click on configure devices, select the array, and click Configure
6. Back in Configurations Console, click refresh on the left pane.
7. At this point, it should be possible to create/delete pools & volumes.

Depending on what version of storade you are using you may have to find these options below:

1. In storade click Administrator->General Maint->start/stop agents
2. Stop the agents for the storage in question
3. Generate a new inventory by clicking Service->Sun Solutions->Inventory
4. Click generate new inventor button and when finished save the inventory by clicking save inventory button.
5. Now restart the agents by click Administrator->General Maint->start/stop agents select the affected array and then click start agent.

Comment: For the 6920 using StorAde 2.4 use the following commands.

Storade-> Inventory->Generate New Inventory-> click on Generate.

Although it may states "The new inventory has been Generated"

You will still need to click on the "Generate" icon.

You will now see "New inventory is generating and the page will be refreshed automatically."

Wait for this to complete......This should take no longer than 10 minutes.

Now click on the "Save" icon.

Check the Jobs tab... make sure that the Agent is Completed
