SymptomsWhen upgrading the library firmware on the Sun StorEdge[TM] L20/40/60 tape libraries, care must be taken to check what levels are currently in the library before commencing upgrade, especially when the picker assembly has just been replaced. The firmware on the LTO picker can not be down-graded below 1.33. If this is attempted, then the picker assembly may become inoperable.Changes{CHANGE}Cause{CAUSE}SolutionResolutionIf a new picker is to be installed (contains version 1.55s firmware from factory) then the library must be at 1.33s or 1.55s. If the library is at 1.33s or below then the Library Partially Available message and amber light will be displayed. If the library is below 1.33s and has the Library Partially Available message after installing a new picker assembly then the only option is to remove all library cards and upgrade them in another library to firmware 1.55s. For libraries running firmware 1.33s, then simply upgrade to 1.55s using patch 111972. Refer to L20, L40, L60, tape library, upgrading firmware, replacing picker assy. The one doc that closest resembles this one is cross-referenced within this doc. I moved reference to the patch and document to the internal only section of this document because they were internal only. Trademarks in place. Activated links to infodoc and patch.
