Symptoms
Arrays cannot see disk drives after power on.

Symptoms:

• The LED's are flashing blue and green in a random fashion.
  
• No Faults on the array in the management software
• The User Interface shows no drives or is not listing all of the drives in the array
• Volumes are not shown in the User Interface
• Virtual Disks/Volume Groups are either offline, or missing
• Licenses are missing, and the Feature Enabler Identifier shows fefefefefefefefefe

Resolution
This occurs when the link rate switched is changed to 4Gb/s prior to the power on, and the drives that are in the trays do not support the speed, OR if the speeds do not match the other trays in the storage array.
1.  Power off the RAID controller tray, then all of the expansion trays.
2.  Check that the link rate switch on all trays for the same drive channel pair are all the same setting.

• For 6130, Flexline 240, Flexline 280 arrays, the tray switch setting for all trays should be 2Gb/s only.
• For 6140 and 6180 arrays, the switch setting for all trays should be all 2Gb/s or all 4Gb/s
• For Flexline 380, 6540, 6580, and 6780 arrays, the switch setting for all trays in a given CHANNEL PAIR should be 2Gb/s or 4Gb/s.

Note:  The Flexline 380 and 6540 have 2 channel pairs
Note:  The 6580 and 6780 have 4 channel pairs

3.  Check whether the channel pair is mixing CSM200 and CSM100/FLA200/FLA300/FLC200 drive trays.

This is as simple as looking at the number of drives in the tray.  If you have both 16 and 14 drive trays in the same channel pair,
you need to have the CSM200 switch settings set to 2Gb/s.  No Exceptions.

4.  Check the drive types against the switch setting.

• 10K-RPM FC drives only support 2Gbs : set drive side loop speed to 2Gbs.  Exception is the Seagate 400GB FC drive
  
• 15K-RPM FC drives support 2 and 4Gbs: set drive side loop speed to 4Gbs.  No Exceptions.
  
• SATA drives support 2GBs or 4GBs
  
• Since CSM 200 support mix of FC and SATA drives, you need to make sure that the tray is set to the lowest common speed.

5.  Check that you are using the inner most expansion ports on your drive trays. 

For CSM200(16 drive trays), the outer expansion ports are bypassed by the system.  You need to use the inner most ports labeled 1A and 1B.

6.  After reviewing the link speed settings against your configuration, power on the drive trays, then the RAID tray, and check for your
drives. 

Continued failure to see the drives typically means that you still have a settings mismatch.  Contact Sun Services of you require additional
