Symptoms
A Sun Fire[TM] V40z server, running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0, with kernel
version '2.4.21-4.ELsmp'(or less), is reporting the following errors repeatedly,
in the /var/log/messages file:

 Sep  2 14:16:25 system01 kernel: Northbridge status a60000010005001b 
 Sep  2 14:16:25 system01 kernel: GART error 11 
 Sep  2 14:16:25 system01 kernel: Lost an northbridge error 
 Sep  2 14:16:25 system01 kernel: NB status: unrecoverable 
 Sep  2 14:16:25 system01 kernel: NB error address 00000000e3f60000 
 Sep  2 14:16:25 system01 kernel: Error uncorrected

Resolution
The kernel needs to be updated, to better handle the Northbridge errors.

Run 'up2date,' making sure that the kernel updates are not excluded.

It is known that kernel version 2.4.21-32.0.1 resolves the issue.
