Symptoms
When user tries to use DR (Dynamic Reconfiguration) to unconfigure a Sun Fire System Board, an error is generated:

# cfgadm -c unconfigure NO.SB4
Usage:
cfgadm [-f] [-y|-n] [-v] [-o hardware_opts ] -c function ap_id [ap_id...]
cfgadm [-f] [-y|-n] [-v] [-o hardware_opts ] -x function ap_id [ap_id...]
cfgadm [-v] [-s listing_options ] [-o hardware_opts ] [-a]
[-l [ap_id|ap_type...]]
cfgadm [-v] [-o hardware_opts ] -t ap_id [ap_id...]
cfgadm [-v] [-o hardware_opts ] -h [ap_id|ap_type...]
# cfgadm -o unconfigure NO.SB4
cfgadm: Configuration administration not supported

Resolution
This error will occur if the user does not have the minimum required version of Solaris OS installed.
The minimum supported configuration is Solaris 8 2/02, with the recommended patch cluster as per
<Document: 1010740.1> Patch Cluster, Patch Report and Maintenance Update Content Information

To determine which version of Solaris you are running, view the /etc/release file. It should look similar to this:

# cat /etc/release
Solaris 8 2/02 s28s_u7wos_08a SPARC
