PreviouslyPublishedAs 216224 Symptoms Check the sysconfig/prtconf-vp.out file for duplicate devalias entries. If any duplicates are found, determine if the duplicate entries reference different devices. If any duplicates are found to reference different devices, the system may fail to boot. Devalias entries in prtconf-vp.out are displayed in a system Node with a name of "aliases" (see the node example below). Example devalias Node entry from prtconf-vp.out. Note that the duplicate alias "disk" would fail this check. The duplicate alias disk5 would not fail, because both entries reference the same device. Also, note the node name field at the bottom of the Node entry. Note, this must be done from the OBP OK> prompt, and will require system downtime to complete. Use the command "nvunalias " to remove each of the duplicate entries. Ensure that the nvramrc is not set to recreate one of the duplicate aliases unintentionally. Note that a "reset" may be required on the system before the duplicate aliases will not appear in the output of a "devalias" command. Then, recreate the appropriate aliases with the "nvalias" command.
