PreviouslyPublishedAs 215058 Symptoms After booting my V20z installed with Solaris[TM] 10 x86 there is no output from the serial console on ttya. Keyboard not attached and there is no framebuffer installed. Resolution This is a known problem with some of SUN's new Sun Fire[TM] servers installed with Solaris 10 x86. It is currently being addressed with RFE 6209605. Please use the workaround documented in the 'Temporary Workaround' section to activate the serial console. Relief/Workaround 1. Boot machine and use F2 to access the Phoenix Bios 2. Under the "peripherals" heading, change the comm port from "disabled" to "enabled"; save and boot the machine. 3. Use the "eeprom" command to change input-device and output-device to "ttya" Additional Information This problem and workaround will be documented in a future release of the Solaris[TM] 10 Release Notes and or Installation Guide.
